Katie

Below are some recent small paintings (6x10) of a friend who so graciously let me paint her. It's always a bit awkward for me to ask someone if I could paint them, she had no idea that I painted, and if I was any good, but she still waisted an afternoon for me, and I am so thankful. These were meant to be studies for a very large painting commission, but we are heading in a different direction, which is ok, because I got two great little paintings by going down this path.

I do love to do little paintings, I can do them in a reasonable amount of time, and it makes me keep my brushwork to a minimum. The only problem is they aren't much to show off at a gallery or to make any money on - i guess they are more studies than anything . . .

thanks for the kind words

thought i would see what was new with you and your "work" .... i love these! The colors are great and love that you can't see her face.

I hear you there – I asked to paint someones portrait exactly once – figured I could do a good job of it, but the response was so extremely negative I have never bothered asking again. I picked on photos for awhile but that's jun its course. Once I get to the city I'll get in places where models for painting are and join in such groups – can hardly wait.

Your work here I very much like – same with your work of the barns above. There is something right about working live like that – something of a quality missing in some of your other works, and this is so regardless if people buy them or not, or at least that is my opinion of it.
